Rosewood Courts Redevelopment Project

As the first public housing project built due to the 1937 New Deal program, Rosewood Courts were designated as an African American housing project and are one of three original communities built in Austin. In the effort of preservation and renewal, Adisa Communications first partnered with the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) to develop a database for designating key stakeholders as they geared into presenting a master plan. The detailed master plan was to preserve eight of the original buildings, build new modernized units, and create a dozen or more single-family homes and required preliminary community outreach and ongoing strategic communications. In order to inform project objectives, it was crucial to define intended audiences and the tactics to best engage them on the redevelopment of the Rosewood Courts.

As part of the Section 106 process, Adisa Communications planned and coordinated a series of three community workshops including a fourth resident-focused meeting designed to engage the larger community, educate, and engage the stakeholders. We prepared meeting notices to send out, created presentation and display materials, fact sheets, posters, brochures, and prepared meeting summaries.

Adisa Communications was responsible for and successfully completed the following:

  • Development and compilation of an inclusive database of key stakeholders, Austin leaders, neighborhood associations and organizations, also individuals who were interested in the cause
  • Strategic engagement outreach campaign to update and gain support of the Rosewood Courts Redevelopment Project
  • Coordination of community education workshops
  • Special event planning and assistance
  • Media relations and public relations support
