Austin ISD 2017 Bond Program Communications

The AISD 2017 Bond Program partnered with Adisa Communications to manage community engagement for large scale modernization projects. As part of the bond, only two of five schools were selected for modernization. Adisa Communications recognized the generational impact that this bond would have on the community and its beloved schools, therefore implemented technical and creative solutions to bring the schools’ communities together.

The Adisa team leveraged community relationships and campus stakeholder connections to ensure that the decision-making process for the modernization projects was inclusive, creating communications tools in English, Spanish and Burmese. With disparities rooted in the past still affecting East Austin communities, we drew upon the past to light a way forward for public schools in East Austin.

Adisa team members worked holistically to deliver community meetings, groundbreaking ceremonies and a community engagement event for Dia de los Muertos that brought together the campuses of Metz, Sanchez and Zavala elementary schools in cultural and educational activities. For four years, we proactively and consistently informed and educated the community through websites, newsletters and door to door outreach. This comprehensive effort resulted in more open communication channels that enabled the project team to address inquiries quickly and through an understanding of cultural proficiency.

Adisa Communications was responsible for and successfully completed the following:

  • Strategic communications assistance, ex. construction notices and monthly newsletters
  • Community and door-to-door outreach and engagement (multilingual)
  • Social media services
  • Event planning and coordination
  • Groundbreaking ceremonies
  • Creative services
