San Antonio River Authority: Opening Dialogue with Rural Neighbors

Problem:

There were new opportunities for funding and the Natural Areas and Open Spaces Master Plan needed to be updated quickly.

Situation:

There was a significant population and economic change in Bexar, Wilson, Karnes and Goliad counties.

Solution:

Adisa educated and gathered input from stakeholders including local parks and recreation departments, school districts, nature conservancies and wildlife organizations, elected officials, economic development corporations, neighborhood organizations and the general public.

Result:

The Natural Areas and Open Spaces Master Plan was updated in six months time and allowed for identification of opportunities and partnerships for improvements to remote park areas. The plan now serves as a policy-making guide for the River Authority.
